Well, I did it.

I have hereby signed up for National Novel Writing Month...otherwise known as NaNoWritMo.

What that means is that, starting November 1st and ending Midnight November 30th, I am going to write 175 pages of something with plans to use at least some of it for my thesis.

There is something slightly sacred and a little bit ceremonial about the action of actually signing myself up. It means that I AM GOING TO TAKE MYSELF AND MY WRITING SERIOUSLY. It means that I AM GOING TO GET SOMETHING DONE! It means that I AM MAKING A PROMISE TO MYSELF and that I AM GOING TO KEEP THAT PROMISE IF IT KILLS ME!!

Anyway, dear friends, I just wanted to make an announcement out of it because that way it solidifies my commitment even further.

I have exactly 24 days to do any prep work before I begin...and after that I AM GOING TO DIVE 100% PERCENT INTO THE CREATIVE PROCESS REGARDLESS OF WHAT STRANGE THINGS MIGHT HAPPEN TO ME AS A RESULT OF WRITING 175 PAGES IN 30 DAYS!

Geez, I kinda feel like celebrating.

Cheers!
;)

Public responsibility is always a good motivatation for getting things done.

Although, if you wanted more assurance of sticking to the commitment you could offer to let us all throw rotten vegetables at you as you fester in the public stocks.

Nah. You're too cute for that. I wouldn't have the heart to do it!

You ought to set up your
writing room - with all your
inspiring photo's and things
from India.

Have Indian music playing and
incense and candles -

just to inspire you:)

I tried the public responsibility thing once to quit smoking. And I did, for three whole months! So good luck with kicking any idleness. I'm going to go to myspace now ;)

I'll be cheering you on!
I have thought about doing it and yet I can't give it serious thought until my show is over. Last year I signed up and then froze - writing 5000 words and letting the days pass me by. We'll see if I do it this year. Meanwhile, I'll be cheering you on!

OK babe...I've signed up for it too! Which is just insanity as this is the first time I've even been able to read blogs for a week, but...I still want to do it. Let's talk about it soon!
