Since working at the children's book store I find myself wanting to adopt strange pets...like doves and rabbits and chinchillas. I hate to pick favorites, but Tom-Tom, the ferret, wins the prize for stealing my heart.
His favorite game lately is stealing scrub brushes from E. and, either not letting her have them back (see picture), or hiding them on her completely. Mind you, he only does this with E. And he thinks it's great fun--especially when she gets worked up! ha! (I have to admit, it IS hilarious!)
We let him run around until it's time to open the store and then he goes back in his cage where he'll be safe. But this morning the 10:00 hour descended upon us and we couldn't find poor Tom-Tom. I found him a little later, curled up in my big fat down-jacket under the counter, fast asleep. But, I'll tell you, I wish he would have crawled in the pocket...because I would have loved to bring him home. ;)
Who knew that I'd fall in love with a ferret? But it's true...Tom-Tom has stolen my heart for good.

this was so cute. when i was about 10, i petitioned my dad for about 6 months to let me get a ferret. he always said no, though - too rodent-like i guess. but i loved their little raccoon-y faces.
Ferrets are cute. I have a rabbit. I was never a *pet* person, but, oh my, how I've fallen in love. She's just perfect. Except when she thumps her feet in the middle of the night.
OMG, what a cutie. I can just imagine him all curled up in your coat! My cat does that and it's so adorable - that is until I see how much of her cat hair she's left behind!
I'm so gald you're having such amazing experiences in that magical store :)
pretty cute!
This is like a perfect story for a book: woman working in a children's bookstore falls in love with a scrubbrush stealing ferret named Tom-Tom!! Watch out, PIXAR will be on your doorstep looking to buy the movie rights.

i just felt like saying hi. i hope you had a good day.
(miss you)
(love you too)
he is pretty cute...a girl in college kept one in the dorm. not enough room for the poor guy(s) (i think there were 2) and it (ahem) didn't smell too good because, well, you know, she was a college student (busy doing other things than cleaning i think).
anyway, i am with bp - watch out for pixar!
You work in a children's bookstore AND there's a ferret there, too? Could your life BE any better?
