This is Anu, my wonderfully hardy (hearty) wolfie girl. And today marks her first indoor nap since moving. She is rather happy about it and is full of groans and sighs and stretches.
I went outside to take her for a walk this morning--the negative 40's are no joke. There are spider webs of frost on everything--a surreal deep freeze. We only made it halfway down the alley before she was lifting her paws from the cold and my heart went soft, my hard resolve to make her an outside dog once and for all slipped out from under me...and so now she's peacefully tucked in our bed with a full belly and plenty of covers, kisses, and snuggles. Yes, she's very happy...and sleeping.

Your description of the "surreal deep freeze" actually made me wish I'd gotten up earlier - and gone outside.
I never thought I would be jealous of -40 weather, but here I am. In Chicago, there has rarely been snow on the ground this winter, and there have been more rain storms than snow falls. I miss Bemidji.
Amber: be glad you didn't go outside. it hurt to breath.
Kamran: oddly enough, I don't blame you. Bemidji misses you too.
I cannot even imagine such cold...I shiver uncontrollably when it is 40 degrees.
Anu is so beautiful...glad to know she is keeping warm and happy today...hope you are as well.
Sending my love,
td
What a beautiful Dog!
We too are in a deepfreeze and after trying to take a walk with our two Dogs ,we are grateful to be back in where its warm and toasty.
And you,re right it does hurt to breath.
Hi! I don't know what your reasons were for wanting to make your dog an outdoor dog, but I hope you don't stick to it, cold weather or not. I have two happy old indoor dogs and when we walk them each morning my heart breaks when I see the "outdoor dogs" longing to be inside with their packs. Again, don't know your reasons, but I'm glad you let her in! (one of my dogs is a husky, and though she can bear cold weather, she'd rather not, as I would rather not.)
